Alan Bennett’s spectacular, multi-Tony Award-winning international phenomenon 'The History Boys' arrived at the Broadhurst Theatre in 2006, running for an astonishing 185 sold-out performances and sweeping six major statues including Best Play. Set inside a grammar school in Sheffield, England in the 1980s, the brilliant, blisteringly funny comedy-drama tracks an elite class of eight eccentric, working-class teenage students who participate in a high-stakes preparatory tutorial to pass the Oxford University entrance exams, caught in an ideological war between an old eccentric literature master and a young corporate coach. Directed by Nicholas Hytner, the West End import starred Richard Griffiths.
