The Apple Tree (original, repro)

Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick’s delightfully inventive 1966 concept musical 'The Apple Tree' premiered to critical adulation at the Shubert Theatre. Conceived as an evening of three distinct, musically diverse one-act musicals exploring human nature and desire, the vignettes adapt classical literature from Mark Twain's The Diary of Adam and Eve to Frank R. Stockton's The Lady or the Tiger? and Jules Feiffer's Passionella. Directed with signature comic wit by Mike Nichols, the original production was a historic vehicle for Barbara Harris in her Tony-winning performance alongside Alan Alda and Larry Blyden.
