Cy Coleman, Dorothy Fields, and Michael Bennett’s Seesaw arrived at the Uris Theatre in 1973, running for 296 performances and capturing multiple major Tony Awards. Based on William Gibson’s classic naturalistic play Two for the Seesaw, the musical comedy follows an earnest attorney from Omaha who falls into a turbulent romance with an independent bohemian dancer in Manhattan. Originally directed by Edwin Sherin and co-starring Lainie Kazan during its pre-Broadway tryout, the show underwent major revisions on its path to New York. This preserves its vintage marquee look.
