On Your Toes (Leslie Caron short-lived 1984 tour)

Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, and George Abbott’s classic musical comedy 'On Your Toes' completed a highly publicized, short-lived international touring company production in 1984 that remains a prized rarity for lyric stage historians. Set inside the competing worlds of hot jazz and classical ballet, the fast-paced farcical plot charts Phil "Junior" Dolan, a vaudeville hoofer who becomes a university music professor, orchestrating an intricate campaign to stage a jazz ballet. This specific tour iteration achieved immense profile across North America by casting legendary international ballet icon Leslie Caron in a rare musical turn.
