Arthur Kopit’s surrealist avant-garde dark comedy masterpiece 'Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mamma's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feelin' So Sad' permanently shattered the commercial stage landscape during its historic 1962 Off-Broadway premiere at the Phoenix Theatre before transferring to Broadway's Morosco Theatre. Subtitled "A Pseudoclassical Farce," the breathless plot centers on Madame Rosepettle, an eccentric, tyrannical wealthy widow who travels to a luxury Caribbean resort accompanied by her pathologically submissive son, a collection of man-eating plants, and her deceased husband's stuffed corpse.
