Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II’s backstage musical comedy 'Me and Juliet' launched its historic, monumentally anticipated April 1953 pre-Broadway out-of-town tryout engagement at Boston's historic Shubert Theatre, completing an extended sold-out run. Conceived as an affectionate love letter to theatrical craftsmen that discarded traditional period grandeur, the fast-paced plot tracks the complex technical deceptions, lighting breakdowns, and star-crossed romances that explode among the stage crew during a long-running long-run musical performance, introducing the standard "No Other Love." Directed by George Abbott, it starred Isabel Bigley.
