Hugh Martin and Preston Sturges’s 'Make a Wish' brought an opulent, grand-scale musical comedy extravaganza to the Winter Garden Theatre in 1951, running for an accomplished commercial engagement and capturing multiple major award nominations. Based on Ferenc Molnár’s classic play *The Good Fairy*, the fast-paced farcical plot unfolds inside the glamorous, champagne-soaked heights of Paris, France, tracking a naive young orphan girl who escapes her provincial school and orchestrates an intricate web of romantic deceptions with a handsome, struggling lawyer and an eccentric multi-millionaire. Directed by John C. Wilson, the original production starred Nanette Fabray.
