Rachel Portman, Donna di Novelli, and Rachel Sheinkin’s 'Little House on the Prairie' completed an extensive 2009 national touring company production that brought a spectacular, folk-infused musical comedy adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic children's literature to major venues across North America. The heart-filled narrative tracks the resilient Ingalls family as they navigate the harsh elements, agricultural struggles, and changing family relationships of mid-19th century pioneer life on the American frontier prairie. Directed by Francesca Zambello, the tour achieved massive profile by casting original television icon Melissa Gilbert as Ma Ingalls.
