Michael Jacobs’s 'Impressionism' arrived at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in 2009, running for an accomplished seasonal engagement and capturing massive national media profile. The elegant, deeply romantic drama unfolds inside a sophisticated independent art gallery in Manhattan, tracking Thomas Buckle, a world-traveling international photojournalist who has fled the trauma of war zones, and Katharine Lane, a fiercely private gallery owner who refuses to sell any of her canvas paintings, as they launch a slow-burning, multi-layered courtship, navigating their private griefs through modern art. Directed by Jack O'Brien, the production starred Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen.
