Vincent Youmans’s hit maritime musical 'Hit the Deck!' received a high-profile, grand-scale outdoor revival staging at the historic Jones Beach Marine Theatre during the sweltering summer of 1960. Heavily adapted to leverage the massive, water-bound floating stage infrastructure, the production turned the nautical romantic farce into a spectacular aqua-circus, utilizing real Navy vessels and synchronized swimming formations to choreograph standards like "Sometimes I'm Happy." Produced by theatrical mogul Guy Lombardo with an elite symphonic percussion orchestra, this regional touring engagement starred Gene Nelson and Jane Powell.
