Gerard Alessandrini’s long-running parody revue franchise 'Forbidden Broadway' returned with its acclaimed 2012 edition, titled 'Forbidden Broadway: Alive and Kicking!', at the 47th Street Theatre, completing an extended commercial residency. Conceived as a pitch-black, music-hall style satire of contemporary show business, the frantic plot uses an upbeat pop score to launch a series of hilarious sketches lampooning current musical hits, temperamental stage divas, and corporate theatrical producers, starring a virtuoso comedic ensemble executing rapid-fire physical transformations, preserved here by Triton Gallery.
