Tom Hedley, Robert Cary, and Robbie Roth’s 'Flashdance: The Musical' completed an extensive 2013 national touring company production that brought the high-octane choreography and synthesised pop energy of the iconic 1983 Paramount Pictures film to major commercial theatrical houses across North America. The narrative follows Alex Owens, a fiercely determined young Pittsburgh steel mill welder who spends her nights executing athletic, provocative modern routines as a bar dancer, orchestrating a relentless campaign to secure a formal audition at the prestigious Shipley Academy of Dance. Directed and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo, the blockbuster tour starred Emily Padgett in a tour-de-force lead performance.
