Frank Wildhorn, Don Black, and Christopher Hampton’s 'Dracula: The Musical' arrived at the Belasco Theatre in 2004, bringing an operatic, grand-scale gothic rock pop-opera spectacular to the Broadway stage. Based on Bram Stoker’s timeless 1897 novel, the sweeping narrative follows Count Dracula as he flees Transylvania to infiltrate Victorian London, unleashing a sexually charged campaign of physical terror to corrupt the pure-hearted Mina Murray, who discovers a star-crossed, past-life connection to the vampire. Directed with jaw-dropping flying illusions and rotating sets by Des McAnuff, the spectacular original production starred Tom Hewitt as Dracula alongside Melissa Errico.
