Dynamically adapting the classic 1930 musical *Girl Crazy* into a high-octane tap-dancing extravaganza, the cheerful plot follows Bobby Child, a wealthy New York banking heir who dreams of dancing, who is dispatched to Deadwood, Nevada to foreclose on a decaying theater, falling into star-crossed love with the owner's daughter and staging a spectacular show to rescue the town. Directed by Mike Ockrent with choreography by Susan Stroman, the premiere starred Harry Groener.
