Christopher Curtis and Thomas Meehan’s 'Chaplin' arrived at the Barrymore Theatre in 2012 as a visually spectacular, emotionally massive biographical musical drama that chronicled the legendary life and silver-screen showmanship of cinematic pioneer Charlie Chaplin. Moving from the gritty, impoverished music halls of turn-of-the-century London to the heights of Hollywood stardom and eventual political exile, the narrative charts the creation of his famous "Little Tramp" persona while unpeeling his complex domestic fractures and battles with critics. Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle with striking black-and-white cinematography aesthetics, the production was a star-making tour-de-force vehicle for Rob McClure.
