Robert Longbottom’s bright, visually nostalgic 2009 Broadway revival of Charles Strouse, Lee Adams, and Michael Stewart’s classic 'Bye Bye Birdie' completed a high-profile engagement at the Henry Miller's Theatre under the auspices of the Roundabout Theatre Company, marking the official opening night of the newly restored venue. Conceived as a colorful lampoon of mid-century American rock-and-roll hysteria, the plot follows the frantic chaos that explodes in an ordinary Ohio town when a teen pop idol is drafted into the army.
