Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe’s legendary Scottish musical fantasy 'Brigadoon' premiered to immediate critical adulation at the Ziegfeld Theatre in 1947 and ran for 581 performances. Conceived as a major breakthrough for the songwriting duo, the mystical narrative follows two American tourists traveling through the rugged Scottish Highlands who stumble upon a magical, ancient village that materializes out of the mist for a single day once every one hundred years, tracking a star-crossed romance. Directed by Cheryl Crawford with historic choreography by Agnes de Mille, the original premiere starred David Brooks and Marion Bell.
