The internationally acclaimed Kneehigh Theatre production of Noël Coward’s 'Brief Encounter' brought a spectacular, visually radical, and critically adored multimedia masterpiece to Studio 54 under the banner of the Roundabout Theatre Company in 2010. Conceived and directed by visionary auteur Emma Rice, the production brilliantly adapted Coward's classic 1945 screenplay and short play, seamlessly blending live theater with cinematic black-and-white film projections, physical acrobatics, and music-hall folk songs. The narrative tracks the claustrophobic, deeply moving forbidden love affair between a conventional suburban housewife and a married doctor who meet by chance in a gritty railway station tea room.
