Andrew Lippa and John August’s 'Big Fish' brought a spectacular, emotionally massive, and visually lush musical fantasy to the Neil Simon Theatre in 2013 under the grand direction of multi-Tony winner Susan Stroman. Based on the celebrated novel and Tim Burton film, the sweeping narrative tracks Edward Bloom, a charismatic, traveling salesman whose larger-than-life tall tales involving giants, witches, and mermaids are fiercely resented by his pragmatic adult son, who demands the unvarnished truth before his father passes away. The high-spectacle production was anchored by Norbert Leo Butz in a physically virtuosic tour-de-force performance alongside Kate Baldwin and Bobby Steggert.
