Bells Are Ringing (Revival)

The 2001 Broadway revival of Jule Styne, Betty Comden, and Adolph Green’s 'Bells Are Ringing' brought a colorful, high-energy freshness to the Plymouth Theatre, marking the show's first major New York return since its 1956 premiere. The narrative tracks Ella Peterson, a fiercely well-meaning operator for Susanswerphone who routinely violates corporate protocol by meddling anonymously in the eccentric lives, careers, and romantic choices of her clients, falling into a complex romance with a blocked playwright. Directed by Tina Landau with choreography by Jeff Calhoun, the production served as a spectacular vehicle for Tony winner Faith Prince, who earned critical raves for her physical comedy prowess alongside Marc Kudisch.
