Beatlemania: An Incredible Simulation' arrived at the Winter Garden Theatre in 1977 as a revolutionary, high-concept multimedia event that completely bypassed traditional narrative structures to invent the contemporary tribute show format. Conceived by producers Jules Fisher and Leber-Krebs, the production utilized four virtuosic lookalike musicians executing live, note-for-note orchestrations of the legendary Beatles catalog from "She Loves You" to "Let It Be." The musical performances were framed by a massive, multi-screen backdrop projecting archival newsreels, psychedelic graphics, and social imagery to trace the turbulent political and cultural evolution of the 1960s, capturing a massive commercial phenomenon.
