Michel Legrand, Jeremy Sams, and Didier van Cauwelaert’s 'Amour' is a whimsical, entirely through-sung fantasy musical operetta that arrived at the Music Box Theatre in 2002 as a delicate, beautifully romantic love letter to post-WWII Paris. Set in the colorful streets of Montmartre in 1950, the plot centers on Dusoleil, a shy, ordinary, and entirely unremarkable government clerk who suddenly discovers he possesses the inexplicable ability to walk directly through solid walls, utilizing his new gift to execute anonymous acts of charity and woo a beautiful, lonely woman kept locked away by her tyrannical husband. Directed by James Lapine, the highly stylized production starred Malcolm Gets and Melissa Errico.
