The short-lived 1962 musical comedy 'All-American' represents an incredibly fascinating collaboration featuring music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Lee Adams, and a satirical book by comedy icon Mel Brooks. Opening at the Winter Garden Theatre under the grand direction of Joshua Logan, the plot follows Professor Fodorski, a naive, deeply earnest European immigrant scientist who arrives at an ordinary American university and accidentally transforms its failing football team into a mathematical powerhouse using principles of engineering, quickly becoming an overnight media sensation exploited by corrupt advertisers. Starring legendary dance icon Ray Bolger alongside Eileen Herlie and Ron Husmann.
