An abstracted figure caught mid-kick, built from a single sweeping black contour with passages of pink, turquoise and yellow and a flash of red at the mouth. One of Hirschfeld’s rare non-portrait works: his color dance lithographs set aside celebrity caricature in favor of pure movement, a direction he began with the Rhythm portfolio of 1970, which marked his return to the lithographic stone after a nearly thirty-year break.
